We have a large dedicated group of adult volunteers throughout the Group making Scouting possible at the 28th!

Group Scout Leader Team

Our Group Scout Leader Team manage and support the Group and it’s volunteer leaders. The team are responsible for making sure the best systems are in place to support volunteers and develop the group, providing line management to the section teams, ensuring the Group has an adequate number of volunteers, promoting and managing scout training, and liaising with Eastwood District.

Iain (Group Scout Leader)

Iain is the lead volunteer for the group. It is his role to ensure the group runs effectively and that Scouting develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association so that young people can benefit from good quality scouting.

Andy (Deputy Group Scout Leader)

As Deputy Group Scout Leader, Andy helps to ensure the group runs effectively and that Scouting develops in Giffnock in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scouts. Andy is also a training advisor for volunteers in our group, and until recently was the Explorer Scouts Section leader too!

James (Deputy Group Scout Leader)

As Deputy Group Scout Leader, James helps to ensure the group runs effectively and that Scouting develops in Giffnock in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scouts. James is also our Active Support Unit Manager and part of the Friday Beavers team.

Executive Committee (Trustees)

Peter Ritchie (Group Chair)

Peter chairs the Executive Committee which supports the GSL in carrying out their role. The Group Executive Committee shapes our decisions, approves our strategy and monitors our performance. It is the role of the exec to ensure good governance and that the group has the resources it needs to operate. As Chair Peter leads on this.

The Monday Beavers team ensures that young people aged 6 – 8 get the opportunity to take part in the scouting programme on Monday evenings.

Hetty Woolley is the Section Leader and is supported by a number of Assistant Section Leaders, Young Leaders and parent helpers.

The Friday Beavers team ensures that young people aged 6 – 8 get the opportunity to take part in the scouting programme on Friday evenings.

Ann Touseef is the Section Leader and is supported by a number of Assistant Section Leaders, Young Leaders and parent helpers.

The Tuesday Cubs team ensures that young people aged 8 – 10½ get the opportunity to take part in the scouting programme on Tuesday evenings.

Sheila Oxburgh is the Section Leader and is supported by a number of Assistant Section Leaders, Young Leaders and parent helpers.

The Wednesday Cubs team ensures that young people aged 8 – 10½ get the opportunity to take part in the scouting programme on Wednesday evenings.

Derek Ritchie is the Section Leader and is supported by a number of Assistant Section Leaders, Young Leaders and parent helpers.

The Explorer Scouts team ensures that young people aged 14 – 18 in Eastwood get the opportunity to take part in the Explorer Scout programme on Monday evenings.
