Explorers (14 – 18 years)

Try more. See more. Do more. At Explorers, you’ll stand on your own two feet, and make memories to last a lifetime.

Who are Explorers?

Explorers are a go-getting group of young people aged 14 to 18. Together, they make up the fourth section of the Scouts.

Being an Explorer is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.

Alongside your new friends, you’ll master the skills that will make you feel stronger and happier in the long run, and try things you’d never get the chance to do at home or at school.

Whether you’re hiking to faraway lands or building a robot in the hall, you’ll have the freedom to choose what you’d like to do, and work together with adults to make it happen.

Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Units to try new things, make new friends and conquer the small task of changing the world.

When do Explorers meet?

We have one Explorer Scout Unit that meets on Monday evenings from 19:30 – 21:30.

What uniform do Explorers wear?

The best thing about Explorers is that they’re in the lead – whether it comes to what they want in the programme, where they want to go for camp, or what they wear each week.

Most of the time our Explorers are wearing comfortable clothing appropriate for the programme along with a 28th “neckie”.
When heading off to camp or on more formal occasions, Explorers wear their beige uniform shirt with their badges sewn on.
Our Explorers also tend to design and organise their own hoodies for casual wearing.

Looking to give it a go?

We’d love to welcome you down to the hall on a Monday evening to give it a shot and find out what it’s all about. Why not bring a friend too?

Andy is the leader of our explorers team and will be happy to provide more details of our upcoming programme.

Will you be our next Explorers volunteer?

Volunteering’s not just about giving back – the benefits go both ways. All of our activities are run by amazing volunteers. Volunteering lets you try new things, meet new people, and make a difference.

Awards

Explorers start small but think big, always challenging themselves to do more and be more. It all starts with an award.
