👋 Welcome to 2026/27 at the 28th!

Scouts is the place to make new friends, have amazing adventures, and learn skills for life.

Help us get the new year off to a smooth start by completing our support survey and updating personal information in OSM. Here’s all the information you need:

Scouts works best when we have a large team working together, sharing tasks and providing the best experience for young people. Whether it’s weekly or more flexible, there’s something for you.

We ask all parents to complete our annual support survey to help us plan for the year:

By 24 August, please log in to OSM to:

  • Update and confirm personal details
  • Set up your payment subscription (payment due 6 September)
  • New members: Complete a Gift Aid declaration & census information

Need help? See our OSM Parent Guide for a walkthrough.

Subscription fee

We charge our annual subscription in two half-yearly payments.

For 2026/27, we have increased the subscription by £5 per half-year payment, reflecting the rise in inflation and recent increases to local and national Scout membership fees.

The August–December 2026 subscription fees are Beavers £45, Cubs £50, Scouts £55 and Explorers £55. We expect the same amounts to be payable for the January–July payment, meaning that a Beaver, for example, will pay £45 in August and £45 again in January, for a total of £90 for the year.

We expect to make a further £5 increase to the January–July payment, meaning that the total annual subscription will increase by £10 compared with 2025/26.

Around £52 per member per year of the subscription is passed on to our local and national Scout headquarters, helping to fund the central services and support they provide.

The remaining subscription income is retained by the section to cover our week-to-week running costs, including badges, equipment and programme materials.

The subscription does not contribute towards the cost of running and maintaining the Scout Hall. This costs the group around £90 per member per year in addition to the subscription. We rely on fundraising to cover this cost, and ask all our families to support our annual Jumble Sale and Nearly New & Book Sales to help make this possible.
